King Charles has welcomed a new four-legged companion, marking his return to dog ownership after more than two decades.
Just weeks after Queen Camilla introduced her own puppy, Moley, to the royal household, the monarch received a Lagotto Romagnolo named Snuff as an unexpected gift. The rare Italian breed, known for its truffle-hunting skills, hails from the Ravenna region and has quickly won over the King’s heart.
According to The Sun, Snuff arrived at the palace four weeks ago, and insiders say Charles is already smitten with his new pet. The addition is especially significant, as the King had not owned a dog since the passing of his beloved Jack Russell, Tigga, in 2002.
While Charles and Camilla are set to embark on a diplomatic tour to Italy and the Vatican in April, Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Snuff’s arrival is not related to the upcoming state visit.
The Lagotto Romagnolo, a rare spaniel breed, is quite different from the King Charles Spaniels historically favored by past monarchs. However, Snuff has already become a cherished part of the royal household, bringing joy to the King as he navigates his royal duties.
