Monarch remains devoted to duty despite health-related pause in engagements
King Charles has briefly stepped back from public royal duties following a short hospital visit caused by side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment—but his commitment to work has not wavered.
Described by sources as a “minor” setback, the King’s hospital observation was followed by a return to Clarence House, where he resumed reading state documents and making official calls from his study, according to GB News.
He later travelled to Highgrove, his Gloucestershire residence, to rest over the weekend.
Despite encouragement from those close to him—including Queen Camilla—to ease his workload, the 76-year-old monarch has remained determined to stay involved. His nephew, Peter Phillips, recently shared that the King is growing frustrated with the slow pace of his recovery and is eager to fully return to his duties.
Even after undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate last year, Charles showed little inclination to slow down. Since resuming public duties in April, he has remained engaged in royal affairs, balancing his recovery with his sense of duty.
