Monarch’s Reaction to Invictus Games Sparks Fresh Speculation on Family Rift
King Charles III has seemingly cast doubt on Prince Harry’s hopes for a warm UK return with a brief but telling response during a recent engagement.
While visiting Imperial College London’s Centre for Injury Studies, the King met former Army captain and para-sports athlete David Henson. When Henson mentioned his past work with Harry on the Invictus Games, Charles simply responded, “Fantastic,” without further comment.
Royal experts Roya Nikkhah and Kate Mansey dissected the moment on The Royals with Roya and Kate podcast, interpreting the King’s reaction as a subtle yet significant message.
“That could have been an opportunity for the King to say, ‘Oh yes, they’re marvellous,’ or something similar,” they noted. “But he just let the comment go, and the conversation continued without him engaging further.”
The analysts believe this was a moment where Charles could have acknowledged the importance of the Invictus Games, especially as Henson was instrumental in its early success. Instead, his reluctance to do so has been seen as a sign of the ongoing tension between father and son.
