Meghan Markle Avoided Filming Netflix Show at Home for Privacy Reasons

Duchess used a rental house while keeping family space off-limits

Meghan Markle deliberately chose not to film With Love, Meghan in her Montecito home, prioritising her family’s privacy while working on the Netflix series.

“I wanted to protect that safe haven,” Meghan shared in an interview with People published on March 5.

The Duchess of Sussex, who shares two children with Prince Harry, explained that their home is a deeply personal space. “We’re a close-knit family, and I love those moments—putting Lili down for a nap, having lunch together, having sacred time together at the end of the day.”

Having a full production crew in her private residence wasn’t an option. “Our kitchen is where Mama just cooks for the family, and with a crew of 80-plus people, that’s a lot of people to have in your house!” she said.

Instead, Meghan opted for a rental home for indoor scenes while incorporating elements of her own property, including her garden, orchard, and chicken coop, for outdoor shots.

With Love, Meghan, produced by the Duke and Duchess’s Archewell Productions, explores her passion for cooking, gardening, and entertaining. The series features celebrity guests such as Mindy Kaling, Alice Waters, and Abigail Spencer, with Prince Harry also making a brief appearance.

The show debuted on March 4, coinciding with the launch of Meghan’s new lifestyle brand, As Ever. She also revealed that their children had a small role in the production. “Archie did the [filming clapboard]! Sweet moments,” she said, adding that it was special for them to see her at work for the first time.
