Meghan Markle is under fresh criticism after sending a handwritten note featuring her royal monogram to an influencer who had spoken out against her new cookery series, With Love, Meghan.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams labelled the gesture “hypocritical,” accusing the Duchess of Sussex of continuing to rely on her royal connections while distancing herself from the monarchy. “Meghan’s letter, which appears to highlight her calligraphy skills, includes her royal monogram and was sent to someone who criticised her new show,” Fitzwilliams told Express.
The move has been described by critics as “superficial,” given the couple’s decision to step back from official royal duties in 2020. Despite their exit, Meghan is seen by some as still benefiting from the prestige of royal status.
