PR Expert Defends Duchess Against Negative Reactions to ‘With Love, Meghan’
Meghan Markle has received unexpected support from the UK following harsh criticism of her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
The Duchess of Sussex, who has been actively promoting the show alongside updates from her lifestyle brand As Ever, reportedly did not anticipate the extent of the backlash. Many royal commentators and critics have mocked the series, but PR expert Renae Smith has come to Meghan’s defense, praising the production for its well-crafted and polished approach.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, Smith, founder and director of a UK-based PR agency, described the show as “glossy, polished, and completely in line with Meghan’s carefully curated image.” She further noted that With Love, Meghan presents a “warm, wholesome” aesthetic with an “almost storybook-like domesticity.”
Smith dismissed claims that Meghan’s approach is inauthentic, stating, “This isn’t an act nor a brand decision—it’s her authentic brand, through and through.” She added that Meghan is not attempting to win over skeptics but is simply “staying firmly in her comfort zone, doing what she does best—being a fully-fledged aspirational domestic goddess influencer.”
Her comments come amid reports that Meghan has been feeling “upset and stressed” over the wave of negativity surrounding her brand, even before its official launch. Despite the backlash, supporters argue that the Duchess is maintaining a consistent and genuine approach to her public image.
