Duchess reaffirms emotional ties to royal name, blending family identity with modern influence
Meghan Markle has made a strong statement about her connection to the title “Sussex,” embracing it in a way that subtly challenges royal convention and redefines it on her own terms.
The Duchess of Sussex recently launched her ShopMy page on Instagram, sharing a curated list of her favourite fashion pieces. The page’s web address — shopmy.us/ms — caught attention for its use of “ms,” widely interpreted as “Meghan Sussex,” a personal branding choice that signals a fresh approach to her royal identity.
While the site formally refers to her as “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,” the URL suggests Meghan is confidently integrating the title into her public image.
In a recent interview with People, Meghan opened up about the deep emotional significance the title now holds. “It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognized how meaningful that would be to me until we had children,” she explained. “I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me.”
She added that the title plays an important role in her and Harry’s relationship: “A huge part of our love story is that we share the name Sussex. As the kids get older, they’re so excited about, ‘Oh my gosh, Mama and Papa, how did you meet?’ I think that will come with time.”
Harry and Meghan were granted their titles by the late Queen Elizabeth in 2018, and their children also carry “Sussex” as their last name — reinforcing the family’s shared identity.
Through her latest venture, Meghan has not only embraced the title but used it to shape a narrative of unity, love, and modern royal identity that resonates beyond traditional expectations.
