Duchess reportedly hurt over Thomas Markle’s ‘fake for the cameras’ claim
Meghan Markle is said to be deeply affected by her father Thomas Markle’s latest criticism, in which he accused her of being inauthentic in her Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
The Duchess of Sussex, who released the first season of her cooking show on March 4, has already faced backlash for the content being labelled “unrelatable” and “inauthentic” by critics. However, Thomas Markle’s comments have reportedly hit Meghan the hardest.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Thomas claimed that Meghan is “faking it for the cameras,” adding, “She’s trying so hard to be perfect that she tenses up every time the camera is on her.”
Addressing the emotional toll such remarks may have had on Meghan, psychologist Stefan Walters told OK! Magazine that Thomas’ words could be “painful” for the Duchess.
Comparing estranged family relationships to divorce, Walters explained, “If you share blood and DNA, as Meghan does with her family, there’s always going to be a connection. They’re always going to be entwined and entangled in a way.”
He added, “When there’s an estrangement, whatever form that takes, it can be painful and hurtful to be reminded of that connection.”
While Meghan has not publicly addressed her father’s remarks, the ongoing tension between them continues to cast a shadow over her latest media ventures.
