Duchess Faces Continued Scrutiny Despite Efforts to Shift Public Image
Meghan Markle has reportedly taken a calculated step to reshape her public persona, avoiding any ‘new title’ amid ongoing criticism. The Duchess of Sussex is said to be distancing herself from the “dictator in high heels” reputation in an effort to refine her image, particularly following the backlash surrounding her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
Crew members from the show praised Meghan as “friendly” and “approachable” in People magazine, but royal experts remain sceptical. British broadcaster Helena Chard noted that despite the positive portrayal, past allegations of bullying still linger.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, Chard claimed Meghan is actively working to rebuild public perception: “Her aim, with the help of certain publications, is to revamp her character and change the public’s perception. But the public has a long memory of Meghan’s behaviour and the upset caused to the royal family.”
She further suggested that the Duchess’s recent media coverage is an attempt to drive interest in her Netflix project, which has faced heavy criticism for lacking authenticity.
Despite her efforts to win over audiences, Meghan’s attempt at a rebrand appears to be an uphill battle, with critics arguing that she continues to rely on her royal connections while trying to reshape her image.
