Ted Sarandos calls Duchess ‘underestimated’ as With Love, Meghan secures second season
Netflix’s co-CEO Ted Sarandos has weighed in on the ongoing speculation surrounding Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s partnership with the streaming giant but remained tight-lipped about their long-term future with the platform.
In an interview with Variety, Sarandos declined to comment on whether the Sussexes’ overall Netflix deal would be renewed, stating, “I do not want to comment on anyone’s renewal.”
His remarks come amid a lukewarm reception for Meghan’s lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, which premiered earlier this month. Despite modest viewership and mixed reviews, Netflix has confirmed a second season, signalling its continued support for the Duchess of Sussex.
Sarandos defended Meghan, saying she has often been “underestimated,” and revealed Netflix’s investment in several products featured in her series.
Data from Samba TV shows that With Love, Meghan was streamed by 526,000 U.S. households in its first five days after launching on March 4. In comparison, the couple’s previous docuseries Harry & Meghan attracted 2.1 million households in the same timeframe—nearly four times the viewership.
