Prince Harry Accused of 'Playing Victim' by Charity Boss After Sentebale Exit

Duke of Sussex hit with blistering criticism amid bitter boardroom fallout

Prince Harry has faced fierce criticism just hours after resigning from his beloved charity, Sentebale, with the organisation’s chair, Sophie Chandauka, issuing a scathing rebuke.

In a sharply worded statement reported by The Mirror, Chandauka accused unnamed individuals—clearly aimed at Harry—of treating the charity as a "vanity project" and using the press to portray themselves as victims.

"As a proud African," Chandauka stated, she remains focused on "the integrity of the organisation, its mission, and the young people we serve," directly challenging the Duke's narrative about a breakdown in governance.

Without explicitly naming Harry, Chandauka denounced people "who behave as though they are above the law," and accused them of using media narratives to attack those who question their behaviour.

Chandauka, a Zimbabwe-born lawyer, claimed that she sought legal intervention to expose poor governance, bullying, misogyny, and alleged cover-ups within Sentebale. Her appointment as chair had reportedly sparked tensions among trustees, leading Harry and co-founder Prince Seeiso to announce their resignation, citing irreparable differences.

Harry, who established Sentebale nearly 20 years ago in honour of his mother, Princess Diana, now finds himself at the centre of controversy, with the Charity Commission investigating governance issues raised by Chandauka.
