Prince Harry and Meghan Demand Action on Child Protection Following King Charles’ Announcement

Duke and Duchess of Sussex urge leaders to follow through on online safety commitments

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have issued a strong statement emphasising their commitment to protecting children from online harm, just hours after King Charles made an unexpected announcement.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, through their Archewell Foundation, urged global leaders to honour their promises to safeguard young people from the dangers of real and AI-generated non-consensual images, deepfake pornography, and sextortion.

“While promises from leaders give us hope, we look forward to those leaders following through on those commitments,” the couple stated. “Too often, accountability is too slow to address the real-world harm that results from online harm.”

They called for concrete measures, including advancing legislation like The Take It Down Act, investing in protective technology, and ensuring recourse for affected families. Their message concluded with a sense of urgency: “Given the sweeping consensus among leaders with the power to execute this, we are watching the clock and hoping to see real change carried out as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, just before the Sussexes' statement was released, King Charles shared The King’s Music Room, a personal playlist celebrating beloved artists from across the Commonwealth. The lighthearted announcement, a departure from the monarchy’s traditionally formal approach, surprised many but was largely welcomed.
