Sussexes ‘sick to death’ of drug-related saga as legal pressure mounts in the US
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to be reaching their limit as the Duke’s ongoing visa row continues to dominate headlines and stir public debate in the United States.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who moved to California in 2020 after stepping back from royal duties, are reportedly exhausted by the fallout from Harry’s past drug use revelations in his memoir Spare. The admission prompted conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation to file a Freedom of Information request to determine whether Harry was truthful on his US immigration application.
According to Closer magazine, a source close to the couple said: “Harry and Meghan are sick to death of this saga. They can’t believe it’s still dragging on and find it excruciatingly annoying how it always seems to rear its head at the worst possible time.”
The insider added that the couple had worked hard to maintain a “wholesome and responsible image” and wanted to be seen as relatable to families and ethically driven audiences — an image they feel is being unfairly challenged.
“The ongoing campaign by the Heritage Foundation feels ridiculous to them,” the source explained. “The ‘drug scandal’ is being dragged out in public, and Harry is being raked over the coals and branded a liar.”
While a judge recently ordered the release of documents related to Harry’s visa, the contents were heavily redacted. The Heritage Foundation has since vowed to pursue a second lawsuit, determined to uncover whether the Duke was truthful in his immigration disclosures.
With no clear resolution in sight, the source claimed the couple is emotionally drained. “Harry and Meghan are at breaking point. They feel like they simply can’t take it anymore.”
