Duke of Sussex reportedly learned of father’s hospitalisation through public statement
Harry has reportedly been dealt another emotional blow after learning he was not informed in advance about King Charles’ recent hospital visit amid his ongoing cancer treatment.
According to The Mirror, the Duke of Sussex only found out about the King’s brief hospitalisation after Buckingham Palace issued an official public statement on 27 March. The announcement confirmed that the monarch had experienced temporary side effects from treatment, requiring a short stay under medical observation and the postponement of his scheduled engagements.
“Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital,” the Palace said. “His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed.”
The King is now recovering at Clarence House.
In February 2024, the Palace confirmed the monarch's cancer diagnosis but did not disclose the specific type. Since then, the relationship between the Duke and the rest of the royal family has remained strained, with reports indicating minimal direct contact. Harry's last meeting with his father reportedly lasted just 30 minutes during a visit earlier this year.
The latest development underscores the ongoing distance between the Duke and the royal household — even during moments of personal vulnerability and family health concerns.
