Duke reportedly ‘no longer a priority’ as royal family distances itself
Prince Harry may be in for a painful reality check as reports suggest he is no longer seen as a key figure within the royal family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the UK in 2020, stepping down as senior royals and settling in the US. However, as Harry considers bringing Meghan and their children back for visits, he may find that his role within the Firm has significantly diminished.
According to sources, Palace insiders have largely moved on from the couple’s ongoing drama, especially after Harry’s allegations against Queen Camilla in his memoir Spare. In the book, he accused her of sacrificing him on her “personal PR altar.”
Harry’s relationship with Prince William and Princess Catherine also collapsed following the publication of his autobiography, and they remain estranged.
A royal insider confirmed to Newsweek that within the Palace, Harry and Meghan are rarely a topic of conversation, despite continued media speculation. “Far more thought and hiatus is stirred up in the media around what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are or aren’t doing on any given day than was ever a fixation at the Palace,” the source shared.
Despite this, King Charles and William reportedly still hold affection for Harry. The Duke’s recent visit to London in February 2024, following the King’s cancer diagnosis, saw a brief 45-minute meeting at Clarence House. However, the presence of Queen Camilla during the conversation was interpreted by some as a subtle message to the Duke.
As Harry weighs a potential return to the UK, it remains uncertain whether he will find the warm welcome he may be hoping for.
