Duke of Sussex urged to exit country amid scrutiny over immigration status
Prince Harry is under growing pressure to voluntarily leave the US as his visa records are set to be made public today, sparking intense debate over his residency.
The Duke of Sussex, who has lived in the US since 2020, faces renewed scrutiny over whether he disclosed past drug use—including cannabis, cocaine, and magic mushrooms—on his immigration application. The Heritage Foundation’s legal challenge has led to a judge ordering the release of redacted visa documents, which could determine whether Harry was given special treatment.
Greg Swenson, Chairman of Republicans Overseas, suggested that Harry should leave the US before legal proceedings escalate. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Swenson said:
"If Harry is here illegally, it would be hypocritical for him to get special treatment given the mass deportations occurring now. The smartest thing for Harry would be to leave the US, avoid the proceedings, and leave voluntarily."
While speculation continues, former President Donald Trump is unlikely to intervene, according to political commentators. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams noted that Harry and Meghan are strongly anti-Trump, making them irrelevant to the former president’s priorities.
Judge Carl Nichols, who was appointed by Trump, has ordered the release of Harry’s redacted immigration records by March 18, 2025. The outcome of the case could have major implications for the Duke’s future in the US.
