Duke may use emotional project as path to royal reconciliation
Prince Harry may be presented with a powerful opportunity to mend his fractured relationship with Prince William and the wider royal family through a deeply personal and heartfelt project.
According to Express, the Duke of Sussex is being considered to lead a new documentary about the life and legacy of his late mother, Princess Diana, as part of his and Meghan Markle’s ongoing deal with Netflix. The series is reportedly being planned to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Diana’s tragic death in 1997, and would likely be released in 2027.
A senior Hollywood source revealed that the project would be a solo venture for Harry, who is expected to serve as co-executive producer, as well as the host and narrator. “He is uniquely placed to talk about the woman he knew as his mother and to examine her cultural legacy,” the insider explained.
Producers reportedly believe Harry will approach the documentary “with passion and sensitivity,” offering a fresh perspective on Diana’s life and her lasting impact as one of the most beloved figures in modern royal history.
Importantly, the emotional nature of the project is said to be offering Harry a “golden chance” to reconnect with Prince William, as both brothers remain deeply devoted to preserving their mother’s legacy.
“This could be a stepping stone to building bridges with William and the rest of his family,” the insider added, suggesting that shared memories of Diana could help ease long-standing tensions.
While no official announcement has been made, discussions around the documentary are said to be “extremely positive”—sparking renewed hope for a future royal reconciliation.
