Prince Harry could face serious consequences as speculation intensifies over the future of the Sussex titles, following Meghan Markle’s latest remarks about their significance.
A royal source told the Daily Mail that while stripping the couple of their titles would require an Act of Parliament, it remains a possible consequence if they continue making explosive claims about the royal family.
The debate reignited after Meghan strongly asserted her connection to the Sussex title during her Netflix series With Love, Meghan. In a conversation with actress Mindy Kaling, who referred to her as “Meghan Markle,” the Duchess quickly corrected her:
"It’s so funny you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m ‘Sussex’ now."
Speaking to People magazine, Meghan explained that the name has taken on a deeper meaning for her.
"It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognised how meaningful that would be to me until we had children," she said. "I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H, and I all have together."
She also described the Sussex name as "part of our love story."
However, a royal insider suggested that Meghan’s comments could be seen as a "warning shot" to the monarchy—emphasising how much the title means to her and, by extension, Prince Harry. With tensions rising, the couple has been advised to be cautious with their public statements.
