James Hewitt Shares Late Princess’ Concerns Over Sons’ Feud
Prince William and Harry have received a poignant message from James Hewitt, a former confidant of their late mother, Princess Diana.
Hewitt, who has openly spoken about his friendship with the Princess of Wales, shared his thoughts on the growing rift between the royal brothers. In an interview with Good Morning Britain, he revealed that Diana would have been deeply troubled by their fractured relationship.
"I think any mother would be worried and concerned about such a rift," Hewitt said. "She would have done her best to try and get them together."
His remarks follow recent claims from a former royal aide suggesting that William and Harry "still have bad blood" and that reconciliation remains unlikely.
Hewitt also reflected on Diana’s controversial 1995 Panorama interview, calling it a "stitch-up job" and accusing journalist Martin Bashir of deception. "It was appalling—he lied to her, criminal activity, absolutely appalling," he stated.
Princess Diana publicly admitted in the interview that she had an affair with Hewitt. A year later, she and then-Prince Charles finalised their divorce.
