Prince of Wales honours last surviving Battle of Britain hero after King Charles’ royal tour announcement
Prince William released a touching statement mourning the death of John "Paddy" Hemingway, the last surviving Battle of Britain pilot, who passed away at the age of 105.
Taking to Instagram, the Prince of Wales expressed his deep sadness over the loss of the war hero, recognising his immense contribution to the nation's history.
"I was sad to hear about the passing of John 'Paddy' Hemingway this morning, the last of 'The Few.' We owe so much to Paddy and his generation for our freedoms today. Their bravery and sacrifice will always be remembered. We shall never forget them. W."
William’s message came shortly after Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles and Queen Camilla will embark on a State Visit to the Holy See and the Republic of Italy from 7th to 10th April 2025.
While the monarch prepares for diplomatic engagements, the Prince of Wales’ tribute serves as a poignant reminder of the courage and sacrifice of Britain’s wartime heroes.
