Future King embraces solo role abroad as Catherine remains in the UK
Prince William has opened up about his feelings during a brief separation from Catherine as he embarks on a two-day solo trip to Estonia—his first official overseas visit of 2025.
The Prince of Wales, 42, arrived in Tallinn on March 20 for a milestone engagement focused on diplomacy, defence, and innovation. While the Princess of Wales stayed behind in the UK, William made it clear he was looking forward to the journey ahead.
“Great to be visiting Estonia for the first time! Looking forward to an exciting two days here,” he shared.
William’s itinerary includes a meeting with Estonian President Alar Karis, with the ongoing war in Ukraine expected to be a central topic. He will also meet British troops deployed under Operation Cabrit, part of NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence initiative supporting security in Eastern Europe.
“Operation Cabrit is the name of the U.K. operational deployment to Estonia where British troops are leading a multinational battlegroup,” the British Army confirmed.
Beyond military engagements, William will explore Estonia’s progress in renewable energy and its response to the region’s energy crisis. He is also expected to meet with Ukrainian refugees who have found safety in the country.
This high-profile visit reflects William’s growing presence on the global stage as future King—carried out with confidence, even in the absence of his wife by his side.
