Princess of Wales hopes to mend royal rift as William stays cautious
Prince William is reportedly still hesitant to trust the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, even as Catherine quietly encourages reconciliation between the estranged brothers.
According to Heat magazine, the Princess of Wales has taken on the role of “peacemaker” behind the scenes, gently urging William to soften his stance toward Harry following years of tension.
Their rift intensified after Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal life, relocated to California, and aired grievances through interviews, a Netflix docuseries, and Harry’s memoir Spare.
A royal insider revealed that while Catherine isn’t pressuring William, she is encouraging him to keep an open mind. “She’s not pushing hard, but she is quietly encouraging William to soften his heart towards his brother,” the source said.
William, however, remains deeply cautious, with the source adding he is still “very reluctant to trust Harry and Meghan.”
Catherine’s efforts are also rooted in her hopes for the future of her own children. “It breaks her heart to imagine something like this happening to them, so she wants to show them that family is worth fighting for,” the insider explained.
Harry is expected to return to the UK in April for a legal hearing over his security arrangements. Whether a family reunion will happen remains uncertain, but Catherine is reportedly open to the possibility. “If it were up to her, she’d love them all to sit down and talk things through,” the source said, while admitting, “only time will tell if they can let the animosity go.”
