Duke of Sussex reportedly advised to stay away to preserve solemnity of memorial
Harry has reportedly been urged by King Charles and Prince William not to attend the funeral of Graham Craker, the beloved former royal bodyguard who recently passed away at the age of 77.
According to Radar, the Duke of Sussex was advised to remain in the United States ahead of the memorial service, with royal insiders suggesting that his presence could draw unwanted attention and detract from the respectful tone of the occasion.
“It has been communicated to Prince Harry that his presence at the send-off for Graham Craker may detract from the solemnity of the occasion,” a source told the outlet. “As such, it is suggested that he remain in the United States to allow the family and friends of the deceased to commemorate his life without distraction.”
Craker had served both William and Harry and was with the younger prince during the difficult period following the death of Princess Diana. His passing marks a painful moment for the royal brothers, who reportedly shared a close bond with the longtime protector.
The decision to discourage Harry’s attendance is said to reflect a desire to honour Craker’s memory with dignity and avoid any potential media frenzy surrounding the event, given the ongoing tensions between the Duke and the rest of the royal family.
