Monarch to lead balcony celebration with senior royals amid son’s surprise homecoming
King Charles has made a poignant decision to unite key members of the royal family for the 80th anniversary of VE Day—just as Prince Harry arrives back in the UK for an important legal matter.
According to The Mirror, the monarch will mark the historic occasion with a balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace, commemorating the end of the Second World War in Europe. The event, deeply significant to King Charles, is expected to feature a grand flypast and parade.
The King and Queen Camilla will be joined by Prince William, Princess Catherine, and their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Other senior royals including Princess Anne, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, Prince Edward, and Duchess Sophie are also set to attend the commemorations.
An insider shared, “His Majesty is dedicated to bringing his family and the country together in honour of Britain’s war dead and recreate the sense of community that came with the celebrations to mark VE Day.”
“The four days of commemorations will be a fantastic opportunity for the country to unite for such a special occasion, 80 years after victory was declared in Europe,” the source added.
The announcement comes just as Prince Harry reportedly returned to the UK ahead of his court hearing related to his ongoing security case. While it remains uncertain whether he will participate in the VE Day events, his arrival has sparked speculation about a possible family encounter during the national tribute.
