Monarch holds firm as family tensions show no sign of easing
King Charles is standing his ground over Prince Andrew’s future at Royal Lodge, with no indication of softening his stance despite lingering tension between the royal brothers.
Royal expert Gareth Russell told GB News that the monarch’s position remains unchanged. “I do not believe the King's review on Prince Andrew remaining at Royal Lodge has shifted,” he said.
This reaffirms earlier reports that Charles is determined to see his younger brother vacate the 90-acre Windsor estate, where Andrew has lived for over two decades with his former wife, Sarah Ferguson. While Andrew holds a 75-year lease on the property, it depends on maintaining the estate — a key point of contention.
The issue continues to fuel quiet friction within the royal household as the King pushes forward with efforts to streamline royal residences and reduce financial burdens.
Meanwhile, Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, appear to be forging their public roles independently. Their recent appearances and social media content have notably excluded their father, subtly indicating a growing distance as the Royal Lodge standoff remains unresolved.
