King Charles issued a warm and uplifting message to mark the occasion of Eid, just days after being hospitalised due to side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment.
On Sunday, Buckingham Palace shared a message on behalf of the monarch, extending Eid greetings to Muslims in the UK and around the globe. The message, styled like a festive card, read: “Eid Mubarak to Muslims celebrating in the UK and around the world.”
The cheerful note delighted royal watchers, particularly as it followed a brief period of concern over the King’s health. Last Thursday, the Palace confirmed that Charles had been admitted to hospital due to treatment-related side effects. His scheduled engagements were cancelled for that day and the next.
Although no further details were disclosed about the King’s condition or treatment plan, Palace sources confirmed his recovery remains on a positive path. One insider described the hospitalisation as “the most minor bump in the road that’s very much heading in the right direction.”
Adding to the sentimentality of the day, Charles and Queen Camilla also shared touching throwback photos of their late mothers—Queen Elizabeth II and Rosalind Shand—in honour of the UK’s Mothering Sunday.
