Meghan Markle and her mother, Doria Ragland, have addressed recent online criticism sparked by Meghan’s appearance in her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, where her kitchen setup — particularly her use of high-end Le Creuset cookware — drew backlash from some viewers.
The mother-daughter pair appeared in a new video that quickly garnered attention online, not only for their warmth but also for the subtle yet pointed response to social media trolls. Some critics argued that the Duchess’s expensive kitchen items set an unrealistic standard, particularly for black women.
During an interview in Meghan’s Montecito kitchen, the Duchess was reportedly unaware of the controversy until informed by the interviewer. Visibly confused, she raised her hands and turned to her mother, asking, “This is a thing, in 2025?”
Doria, seated beside her, responded with calm restraint: “Everyone is coming in hot these days.”
Meghan, according to the publication, expressed frustration over accusations of being out of touch. Pointing to the surroundings of her California home, she said, “Don’t they know my life hasn’t always been like this?”
In the wake of the criticism, many black supporters rallied behind Meghan, proudly sharing photos of their own Le Creuset collections as a show of solidarity.
