Duke of Sussex says only his father can fix ‘unjust’ treatment amid legal battle
Buckingham Palace has reportedly moved to counter Prince Harry’s latest bombshell claims, following a revealing interview in which the Duke of Sussex expressed deep frustration over his ongoing security dispute with the UK government.
After attending a two-day court hearing over his challenge to the Home Office, Harry claimed he was “singled out” and subjected to “unjustified and inferior treatment” by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec), which oversees security arrangements for royals and high-profile figures.
The Duke described feeling “exhausted and overwhelmed,” adding that “only my father can resolve this” — a remark widely seen as a direct appeal to King Charles.
However, Palace insiders quickly pushed back. According to The Telegraph, sources “strongly refuted” the suggestion that the King could intervene in judicial matters, noting that his private secretary, Sir Clive Alderton, who sits on Ravec, cannot act independently of protocol.
The Palace, as per standard practice, declined to comment officially on security issues. Currently, full-time taxpayer-funded protection is reserved for the King, Queen Camilla, and the Wales family.
Harry, who no longer receives state-funded security, is now required to give 30 days’ notice before travelling to the UK. Each trip is then individually reviewed to determine if protection will be granted.
In his interview, Harry also implied that the restrictive terms of his security arrangement might be part of a wider strategy to control or pressure him into rejoining the royal fold — a claim that has stirred further controversy amid already strained family ties.
