Future king’s next chapter prompts debate over tradition and personal preference
Prince George is approaching a pivotal point in his young life, with Prince William and Kate Middleton now facing an important decision about his future education as he prepares to enter his final year at Lambrook School this September.
The eldest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, George will celebrate his 12th birthday in July and is expected to begin the next phase of his schooling soon after—a move that could shape not only his academic path but his preparation for royal duties.
With time ticking, reports suggest that William and Kate are weighing different options, reportedly holding differing views on the best fit for their son. Prince William, like his brother Harry, attended Eton College, the prestigious all-boys boarding school. Kate, however, is said to favour a different route—Marlborough College, her own alma mater, a co-educational boarding school, which she attended after experiencing challenges at an all-girls school.
According to earlier reports, Kate has also visited two highly regarded North London day schools—Highgate and University College School—suggesting she may be considering alternatives to boarding altogether.
While royal aides were believed to be exploring accommodation options for George as early as January, no official decision has yet been announced. The choice will not only reflect personal parenting values but may also signal how the future king is being shaped for a more modern monarchy.
