Sentebale co-founder under scrutiny as UK regulator investigates potential mismanagement
Prince Harry is under fire over claims that he prioritised personal business ventures over the core mission of Sentebale, the charity he co-founded in memory of his late mother, Princess Diana.
According to The Sun, royal expert Russell Myers reported that tensions have surfaced within the organisation, with serious concerns raised by Sophie Chandauka, Sentebale’s chair. She alleges that the Duke’s controversial public image has discouraged sponsors and contributed to the charity’s recent difficulties.
One of the most troubling claims involves Harry’s alleged insistence on bringing a Netflix crew—linked to his high-profile streaming deal—to a fundraising event, raising questions about whether media exposure was favoured over the charity’s long-term benefit.
The UK’s Charity Commission has launched an investigation into potential mismanagement, although it is not expected to intervene in personal tensions between Harry, Chandauka, and co-founder Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.
The controversy adds pressure to Harry’s post-royal reputation. While he and Meghan Markle once asserted that stepping back from official duties would not lessen their charitable impact, these allegations suggest a shift in priorities—from service to self-interest.
If substantiated, the accusations could erode public trust and cast doubt on the sincerity of the Duke’s humanitarian efforts.
