Prince Harry Faces Backlash Over Sentebale Exit Amid Legal Pressures

Royal expert says Duke may have underestimated charity boss as tensions rise ahead of UK court battle

Prince Harry is facing mounting pressure as his public fallout with Sentebale chair Dr. Sophie Chandauka intensifies—just as he prepares for a crucial legal hearing in the UK regarding his police protection.

The Duke of Sussex, who co-founded the beloved charity in Lesotho alongside Prince Seeiso, recently announced his “heart-breaking” resignation as patron. The move, intended as an act of solidarity with Sentebale’s trustees, has sparked significant backlash and triggered new scrutiny.

According to royal experts, Harry may have misjudged Dr. Chandauka—a respected professional with a powerful voice. “He’s met his match,” said The Sun’s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson on A Right Royal Podcast. “He’s hurled abuse at the media, at the British royal family, about the UK for year after year.”

Dr. Chandauka, who accused Harry of “harassment and bullying at scale,” has publicly pushed back on the narrative, making the clash one of the most direct challenges the Duke has faced since stepping down as a senior royal.

“She’s a credible, intelligent woman—an educated doctor and successful figure,” Wilkinson added. “The fact that she’s speaking out, and can explain exactly what happened—particularly with footage reportedly captured during a Netflix shoot—really opens things up.”

The controversy has prompted the UK’s Charity Commission to launch a formal inquiry into “concerns raised” over Sentebale.

The row now threatens to overshadow Harry’s upcoming return to the UK for a two-day court hearing tied to his legal challenge against the Home Office over his reduced security—a case that has already stirred considerable public and political interest.
