Duke triggers backlash with fresh accusations against royal family after UK court appearance
Prince Harry is facing criticism after levelling fresh accusations against his own family, suggesting there was a strategic effort to keep him and Meghan Markle tied to royal duties through the threat of revoked security.
The Duke of Sussex’s remarks followed his appearance at a two-day legal hearing in London, where he challenged the Home Office over the loss of his publicly funded protection. Harry claimed he was “singled out” and subjected to “unjustified and inferior treatment” compared to other royals.
He also suggested the withdrawal of security was used as leverage to pressure him into remaining a working royal—an allegation that has reignited public debate and stirred controversy.
Reacting to the Duke’s claims, royal commentator Duncan Larcombe labelled the accusations “bizarre,” accusing Harry of adopting a victim mentality when things don’t go his way. “It seems to be this constant dialect from Harry—if things aren't going his way, he plays the victim,” Larcombe said on GB News.
The commentator added that the public’s perception of the Duke is deteriorating: “When this happens, he becomes less and less popular with the British public who used to adore him.”
Larcombe also criticised the inconsistency in Harry’s behaviour, pointing out that someone so concerned about personal safety had recently travelled to a war zone. “That is slightly ironic, isn’t it?” he noted.
Although Harry reportedly believes his father could intervene in the matter—highlighting that King Charles’s private secretary, Sir Clive Alderton, sits on the Royal and VIP Executive Committee—palace insiders have strongly denied that the monarch has any authority or role in the decision-making process.
“These are matters of security and government policy,” a royal source stated. “It would be inappropriate to comment or intervene on either.”
