Duke of Sussex targeted following royal exit as security case continues in London
Alarming new details have emerged during Harry’s legal challenge over police protection, with his lawyer revealing a serious threat to his life made by a terrorist group.
Speaking at London’s Royal Courts of Justice, Harry’s legal counsel, Shaheed Fatima KC, disclosed that the Duke had been the subject of a chilling message calling for him “to be murdered,” with claims that his assassination “would please” a certain community. The warning, reportedly published by the group, was passed to his security team—but not included in the official court submission.
The revelation came during the first day of a two-day hearing in which Harry is appealing the decision by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) to revoke his automatic police protection. His security was downgraded after he and Meghan Markle stepped back from their senior royal roles in 2020.
Fatima argued that Harry had been “singled out” for “inferior treatment” and noted in written evidence that the couple felt “forced” to leave their roles due to a lack of adequate protection from the institution.
The second day of the proceedings is now underway, as the Duke continues his fight for what he considers fair and necessary security measures while in the UK.
