Second Year Away from Royal Easter Traditions Fuels Speculation Over Intentional Distance
Prince William and Catherine have missed the royal family's Easter service at St George’s Chapel for the second year in a row, choosing instead to spend the holiday privately at Anmer Hall with their children.
Their continued absence has stirred speculation, with Us Weekly reporting that palace insiders viewed the move as a possible “snub.” One source described the decision as “deliberate,” raising eyebrows among senior royals.
Last year’s absence was widely understood due to Catherine’s cancer diagnosis. However, this year’s decision has reignited speculation about their detachment from royal duties.
“They are choosing to spend time together as a family before the children go back to school,” a source told The Mirror, defending their low-key Easter plans.
King Charles and Queen Camilla led the 2025 Easter service alongside a slimmed-down royal group, including Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
Catherine continues to recover privately following her public announcement about her health in March 2024.
