Future King determined to protect monarchy's image amid lingering scandals
Prince William is reportedly playing a decisive role in preventing Prince Andrew from returning to public royal duties, despite the Duke of York’s recent reappearance at the Easter Sunday service.
While Prince Andrew’s attendance marked his first major royal gathering since last year’s Easter amid ongoing controversies, the Prince and Princess of Wales were notably absent, choosing instead to spend the holiday privately with their children in Norfolk.
According to royal insiders, William remains deeply opposed to the idea of his uncle reentering public life, believing that Andrew’s past scandals have caused lasting damage to the Royal Family's reputation.
Former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond explained William’s stance, telling The Mirror, “I think William is harder about this and more willing to take a tough stand against his uncle. He's determined to protect the monarchy and demonstrate that they understand the strength of public animosity towards Andrew.”
Bond added that William is increasingly becoming a major power player within the family, with sources suggesting he would never endorse Prince Andrew’s return to any form of public royal role — prioritising the monarchy’s long-term integrity over family loyalty.
