Moment of confusion unfolds as Queen adjusts position during official welcome in Rome
Queen Camilla experienced a brief moment of confusion during a key ceremony as she and King Charles began their four-day State Visit to Italy.
The royal couple received a warm welcome at the Quirinale Palace in Rome, where they were greeted by Italian President Sergio Mattarella and his daughter, Laura. The occasion featured a grand display, including a flypast by both the Italian Air Force's Frecce Tricolori and the UK's Red Arrows.
However, during the formal welcome, Camilla appeared momentarily unsure of her place in the protocol. While standing in the palace courtyard, she was seen pointing to an empty spot on the ceremonial rug and then consulting with a nearby official before repositioning herself next to King Charles.
According to Hello!, the Queen had been directed to stand in two different spots, leading to the mix-up.
Despite the brief disruption, the ceremony continued smoothly as the King and Queen proceeded to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Altare della Patria in Piazza Venezia, marking the solemn beginning of their visit.
