Queen Camilla has made an emotional appeal to King Charles, encouraging him to ease his workload as the couple begins their highly anticipated four-day tour of Italy — the King’s first overseas visit since his recent hospitalisation.
Since Buckingham Palace confirmed his cancer diagnosis in February 2024, King Charles has continued to carry out royal duties, demonstrating unwavering dedication despite his ongoing treatment. However, a recent setback saw him hospitalised due to side effects, forcing the cancellation of several engagements.
Royal commentator Phil Dampier told The Sun that Camilla has been urging her husband to take better care of himself. “Camilla is forever telling him to slow down,” he revealed. “She would like him to pace himself, take it easy — but he’s got this work ethic.”
The King, known for his tireless routine, has long been said to work late into the night. “He’s literally fallen asleep at his desk before,” Dampier added. “Those days need to be behind him. He has to scale back, but it’s in his nature. He thrives on staying busy.”
