Royal Family Shares Emotional Update After Duchess Sophie’s Tearful Anzac Day Tribute

Duchess of Edinburgh moved to tears as she honours fallen heroes on King Charles' behalf

Buckingham Palace has released a heartfelt update following Duchess Sophie’s emotional appearance at Anzac Day commemorations in London, where she stood in for King Charles amid his ongoing health battle.

The Duchess of Edinburgh was visibly moved as she attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the Cenotaph, seen wiping away tears during the somber tribute honouring Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women.

The Royal Family shared touching photos from the event on its official Instagram account, alongside a poignant statement:

"We remember all the Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in conflicts around the world, on this the 110th anniversary of Anzac Day. This morning, The Duchess of Edinburgh attended a Dawn Service at Hyde Park Corner in London to mark the anniversary and commemorate the Fallen."

Later, Duchess Sophie took centre stage at Westminster Abbey for a Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving, continuing the tradition of Anzac Day observances, which have been held in London since King George V first attended in 1916.

Sophie’s raw emotion and dedication captured the spirit of remembrance, reflecting the Royal Family’s ongoing commitment to honouring those who have served, even as they navigate challenging times of their own.
