Sarah Ferguson has expressed her sorrow over the passing of Pope Francis, sharing a deeply personal tribute in honour of the late religious leader, who died at the age of 88 on Easter Monday.
The Duchess of York took to Instagram to post a photo of the Pope along with a touching message:
"No better example of total humility in kindness and compassion. Thank you for leading us not just with words, but with your unwavering service to humanity."
Pope Francis, the first Latin American leader of the Roman Catholic Church, passed away just weeks after meeting King Charles and Queen Camilla during their state visit to Italy. His death has prompted widespread mourning, including a formal message from Buckingham Palace.
In a statement issued by the Palace, King Charles expressed his “deep sadness,” while extending “heartfelt condolences and profound sympathy to the Church he served with such resolve and to the countless people around the world who, inspired by his life, will be mourning the devastating” loss.
According to royal correspondent Rebecca English, Buckingham Palace is now expected to send Prince William as the royal representative at the Pope’s funeral, pending final details from the Vatican.
